Eating Out on the Carnivore Diet
Keep It Simple, Satisfying, and On Track

Let’s face it, eating out on the carnivore diet can feel intimidating at first. Most restaurant menus are loaded with seed oils, sugary sauces, and carb-heavy sides that don’t align with the way we eat.
But the truth is, you can eat out and stay 100% carnivore without feeling like you’re cheating, or getting cheated. It just takes a little strategy, a firm mindset, and a reminder that simplicity is what makes this lifestyle work.
Rule #1: You’re Paying, So Take Control
Don’t be afraid to ask for exactly what you want. You’re not being difficult; you’re being deliberate. Ask for:
- Steak cooked with no seasoning or sauce (just salt)
- Eggs cooked in butter
- Hamburger patties without the bun, lettuce, or condiments
- Sides swapped for extra eggs, bacon, or more meat
If you’re not sure what oil they’re cooking in, just ask. Or request it grilled dry and add your own butter when you get home.
Go-To Carnivore Options at Restaurants
Steakhouses – The holy grail. Ribeye, NY Strip, Filet, burger patties, shrimp, scallops, eggs, bone marrow.
Diners & Breakfast Spots – Bacon, sausage, eggs any style, burger patties, ham steak, pork chops.
Burger Chains – Order double or triple patties with cheese. Skip the bun, ketchup, and pickles. Ask for a knife and fork.
Seafood Restaurants – Grilled fish, oysters, shrimp, crab, or lobster. Ask for no breading and butter on the side.
BBQ Joints – Brisket, ribs, pulled pork. Ask for it dry with no rub or sauce. Skip the sides.
You’re Not Missing Out, You’re Winning
You’re not depriving yourself. You’re upgrading. You’re choosing fuel over filler, strength over softness, clarity over cravings.
Eating out doesn’t have to be a compromise. It’s a chance to double down on the way you’ve chosen to live with intention, with confidence, and with gratitude.
You’re not there for the bread basket. You’re there to stay in alignment with the person you’re becoming.
Final Tips
- Eat before you go if you’re unsure about options
- Carry a small jar of butter or salt if needed
- Be polite but unapologetic about your choices
- Focus on the people, not just the food
You can eat out and stay carnivore. You can enjoy your meal and stay on track.
Keep it simple. Keep it strong. Keep it meat.
